Congregational Healing from Crisis and Trauma
Dr. Arthur Pressley
Associate Professor of Psychology and Religion
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 noon
Location: Seminary Hall 210
This seminar will explore the theological and spiritual dimensions of trauma and how this problem shapes the life of individuals and congregations. In the past communities were aware of the physiological, social and emotional effects of trauma. Now religious communities are becoming more aware of the moral and spiritual dimensions of trauma for children and adults. This seminar will discuss the spiritual and religious dimensions of trauma and will explore the implications of this for religious formation, spiritual disciplines and will offer creative strategies religious communities have used to build spiritual and psychological resilience for children and adults.
