Major(s):  Neuroscience, French, Spanish
Year in Fall: Junior

I am a rising Junior here at Drew, majoring in Neuroscience, French, and Spanish.  When I’m not completely absorbed in school work (Ha!), I also fulfill my role as President of Drew University’s African Students’ Association, a member of Drew’s belly dance club, a French tutor, a spoken word artist, and a runner. Drew University has offered me the necessary space, as both an artist and a scientist, for exploration and plenty of motivation from my professors and peers. As a former Summer College student, I’m available to help you develop an enthusiasm for college, and hope you’ll find your time here as refreshing as I did!

Major:  Psychology and Spanish
Minor:  Linguistic Studies
Year in Fall:  Sophomore

I am a rising Sophomore, double majoring in Psychology and Spanish and minoring in Linguistic Studies because studying languages is my passion.  Earlier this year, I was able to practice my Spanish skills in the Dominican Republic as part of the Drew Honduras Project (DHP).  For the past two years, DHP has been going to a girls’ orphanage in Bonao, the Dominican Republic and help in the renovation of the buildings as well as teaching of English and computer classes to the girls in this orphanage and students in public schools.  As a Civic Scholar, I have the opportunity to volunteer all year at different sites with incredible people, especially children.  I work at the Acorn Academy, Drew’s campus daycare center and volunteer by playing the flute at churches during Sunday masses.  I love reading, watching TV, listening to music, and dancing.  In the future, I hope to become a school psychologist.  I hope that Summer College will provide me with the opportunity to learn a lot about different cultures and be an enjoyable and memorable experience for both you and me.  Please feel free to come and talk to me whenever you feel like it.  I can’t wait to meet and get to know you!

Major(s):  English
Minor:  Creative Writing
Year in Fall: Senior

I am a rising Senior at Drew, majoring in English with a minor in Creative Writing and a concentration in British and American Literature of the 20th century.  Drew has given me many opportunities, particularly in community service.  I’ve gone all over the area, from a halfway house in Morristown to Eagle Academy in Newark.  For the past two years, I’ve been volunteering at a local animal shelter, which has been one my most rewarding experiences.  I also work as an English tutor on campus, which has really helped me decide on what I want to do with my life.  I hope to be a high school English teacher in the near future, or maybe a college professor in the slightly more distant future.  I hope that by having this mentoring opportunity I can pass on some of my excitement and insight as a nearly graduated student.

Year in Fall: Sophomore

I am a rising Sophomore, double majoring in Business and Studio Art with a concentration in Economics.  I am on the fencing team at Drew, which has made my first year college experience unforgettable.  I was also a member of the Welch Hall intramural soccer team during the fall semester of my freshmen year.  I love to draw, and have a passion for science fiction.  In the future, I intend on getting an internship at a company such as Pixar or Marvel comics before I graduate.  I also intend on getting my Master’s degree in Business after graduation.  I am looking forward to working with you, and I hope this program can be a learning experience for both of us.  If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask me.

Major(s):  Music and Mathematics
Year in Fall:  Sophomore

I am a rising Sophomore, currently double majoring in Music and Mathematics.  I’d like to specialize in Music Theory/Composition and Performance, and in the more theoretical side of math.  My teachers and professors have definitely inspired me to discover and pursue the things I love; I don’t know where I’d be without their guidance.  Most of my extracurricular experiences (both during and after high school) have been with choirs, and I love to sing (and talk endlessly about singing).  I also love cats, dystopian fiction, poetry, video games, and feminism.  Currently, I am thinking about graduate school for both music and math, and I’m not sure what I’d like to do after that. I would like this program to be a learning experience for everyone involved. I’d love to come away knowing that I’ve inspired others, or at least opened their eyes to new experiences.  I love talking to people, so please feel free to ask me any questions. I want to be a resource for you.

I am a rising Senior at Drew, majoring in Art History and minoring in Anthropology. Drew is definitely a wonderful place to pursue a love for the arts, whether your interest lies in studio art, theater, or music.  I am Assistant General Manager of Drew’s radio station, WMNJ, where any student can sign up to DJ a show.  I am also an avid member of Drew’s Film Club.  After college, I hope to attend graduate school, or enroll in Teach for America.  I am very excited about the opportunity Summer College has provided for me to connect with high school students, and look forward to answering any questions you might have about the college experience.

Major:  Mathematics
Minor:  Sociology
Year in Fall:  Senior

I am a rising Senior, pursuing a major in Mathematics and a minor in Sociology.  I believe that college is about exploring new fields and finding a topic which really speaks to you.  I personally have chosen to study Mathematics because I enjoy doing it; it’s almost like solving very challenging puzzles for your major.  It’s entertaining, almost a hobby, like playing guitar or exercising.  Before I chose Math, I tried many other different fields which I enjoyed and learned a lot from, but Math is what spoke to me.  I see college as being a great place to widen your horizons, and I hope you will have a taste of that during your stay. Please feel free to ask me any question you have.

Major(s):  Psychology
Minor (s):  Public Health & Neuroscience
Year in Fall:  Junior

I am a rising Junior at Drew, pursuing a Psychology major and a Public Health & Neuroscience minor.  I am the current Executive Secretary on the Drew Student Government Association (SGA), co-publicist for the Drew African Student Association (DASA), and co-chair of Harambee, Drew’s Diversity Club.  When I am not studying hard at Drew, I love to explore my artistic side, which incorporates a lot of singing as well as playing with adorable babies and toddlers at my job in a daycare.  I have received many travel opportunities at Drew, and will be taking a trip to Ghana with a group of students during the January 2015 term. After Drew, I plan to take a year off working and saving money, attending graduate school soon after, and later linking my love for Psychology with my love for children.  I hope you are as excited for this new educational journey as I am.  Please know that if you have any questions or want to talk, I am always here.

I am a rising Sophomore, majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in French. This past year has been an incredible experience for me. As part of the Baldwin Honors program, I have been able to enjoy a special talk with Barbara Walters, write for the Baldwin Honors Newsletter, and learn about how each discipline at Drew contributes to the community, and to the world. I also helped out during the International Film Festival.  Next year, I am looking forward to working for The Acorn, the Drew newspaper. After graduation, I plan to go to medical school, or pursue a career in research.  I hope to be a resource for you, and I would love to share my college experiences with you.

Major(s): Economics and Mathematics
Year in Fall: Senior

I am a rising Senior at Drew, double majoring in Mathematics and Economics.  The best academic experience I’ve had at Drew is the small classes because the professor gets to know the students personally, and provides office hours for extra help.  During the school year, I work as a Subject Tutor and as a Circulation Desk Assistant in the Library, which have given me the experience of interacting with a diverse number of people.  Also, since freshman year of college, I have been an active member in the Drew Women’s Rugby team, for which I am the Captain and the Treasurer.  Upon graduation, I intend to work as a risk analyst, and then start my own business. I hope that this mentoring opportunity delivers the positive message to you that a college education is attainable, and is worth all the effort. I look forward to being of help, so please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Year in Fall: Junior

I am a rising Junior, majoring in Chemistry with a focus on Biochemistry, and am on the pre-Medical School track.  I am a RISE science scholar, a tour guide, an Orientation Committee member, and in my freshman year, I swam on the varsity swim team.  I am a Drew Civic Scholar, and through that program, I do at least 100 hours of community service a year.  I love being able to help others in any way possible.  Last semester, I interned at Morristown Memorial Hospital and had an amazing experience.  It validated my desire to be a pediatrician.  I love meeting new people and learning with, and about them.  I also recently returned from studying in Barcelona Spain for the month of June, and had an incredible time there. I am so excited to meet you all, and I hope that I learn as much through this experience as you do. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

I am a rising Junior at Drew, majoring in Political Science, with a concentration in International Relations.  In the upcoming year, I am hoping to take classes in New York as part of Drew’s United Nations semester.  In the fall, I will be traveling to London to take part in Drew University’s London program, in which the other students and I will be given the opportunity to study in London for a semester as well as explore the city and all it has to offer.  I thoroughly enjoy reading and watching movies, particularly anything science fiction or fantasy.  Additionally, I love most sports, and I currently play rugby on Drew University’s team.  I am excited to have been given this chance to work with you, and I cannot wait for it to start!  If you have questions at any point through the duration of the program, please feel free to ask!
