Drew’s Hometown Among Safest in the U.S.
Low crime, thriving downtown and easy access to N.Y.C.
January 2018 – Drew University’s hometown is very safe.
Madison, N.J. is among the 100 safest cities in America, based on crime statistics, according to SafeWise. Also, Madison is among the 20 safest communities in New Jersey.
Located about 25 miles west of New York City, Madison features a thriving downtown with restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and gyms, plus a train station that connects the town to N.Y.C. in less than an hour. Both the downtown and station are about a 10-minute walk from Drew’s wooded campus.
The New York Times described Madison as quaint and charming, with a downtown right out of central casting. An Alicia Keys video, Friday Night Lights and The Daily Show were shot in town and on campus.
