Mission Statement

Arthur’s Trivia Academy is an innovative project which aims to study how new campus cultures can be created. It is also an experiment for finding out how successful concepts from the outside world can be adopted into domestic use on campus. But most importantly, Arthur’s Trivia Academy provides a precious opportunity for Drew Faculty to cultivate curiosity among students, for Drew students to learn the interesting aspects of each discipline that’s being offered at Drew, as well as for students to get to know the amazing faculty who teach those disciplines on campus in a casual and fun setting.

Other Project Goals

  • As it is a Tilghman International Student Center Initiative, creating a collaborative environment where international students can work with one another as well as domestic students on a common project is one of the top goals of this project. 14 students are recruited for the project, where 9 are international and 3 are domestic. Together they represent 7 different countries/regions.
  • Our faculty body is one of the most precious resources for Drew students. We have a large number of faculty who are fun, talented, and love interacting with students. However, for some, especially international students, communicating with professors can be a quite daunting process. This project serves as an experiential learning opportunity for these students to learn and get used to contacting and communicating with our faculty members. Students would contact professors to ask for Trivia question contributions and would visit them to record answer videos.
  • Arthur’s Trivia Academy also creates an opportunity for Drew faculty to show all students who they are in a casual outside-of-classroom setting. It allows them to spark students’ curiosity in phenomena or concepts that they find intriguing within their own disciplines.
  • Finally, as the nature of this project requires pervasive collaboration and contribution from many campus departments and units, it serves as a huge mixer for bringing the whole campus together as a whole, which helps enhance interdepartmental awareness and communication. The most beautiful thing yet is that as Arthur’s Trivia Academy is not a top-down initiative, the ones that are stirring the mixer are not administrators or staff, and nor are they faculty. It is the 14 hard working students behind/in front of the scenes of Arthur’s Trivia Academy who are steering the wheel to shift the Drew Culture.
