Student Financial Services Representative

Drew University is seeking a Student Financial Services Representative. This position is the primary point of contact for the Student Accounts and Financial Aid Offices. This role will assist with inquiries relating to Student Account Billing and Financial aid while providing administrative support and excellent customer service to students and their families. This position directly interacts with students, parents and the University colleagues on a daily basis. This person must be able to communicate financial information in a professional and courteous manner. It is important that this person has the ability to establish and create working relationships with other departments in order to achieve common goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professionally communicate payment options to students and families via. email, phone or in person
  • Monitor students accounts to ensure that their funding and payment plans are up to date in order to identify at risk students and follow up on delinquent payments
  • Document relevant discussions with students and families in the Banner Operating System
  • Review and Reconcile daily cashiering to ensure all transactions are processed and accurate in a timely fashion
  • Identify and notify students of incomplete financial aid documentation
  • Correspond with students regarding their financial obligation to the college and be able to assist them in obtaining funding needed to do so
  • Manage and Invoice 3rd party Agencies, includes serving as the VA certifying official
  • Coordinate efforts with other departments to ensure that school policies and processes are in compliance with State and Federal agencies
  • Responsible for attending specified functions where office representation is required, this may include an evening or weekend during peak periods
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience, including customer service, accounts receivables, cash handling, and/or collections
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and follow directions to complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Manage a high volume workload, being able to effectively problem solve
  • Experience working in a higher education environment with the working knowledge of the Banner operating system is a plus
  • Knowledge of Federal Financial Aid regulations is preferred but not mandatory
