The Office of Financial Assistance created this page to assist you in locating outside scholarships. Drew does not guarantee the availability or fairness of administration of these scholarships. Students pursue them at their own risk. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain the necessary materials, complete applications, and submit them directly to the sponsoring organization for review and fund distribution. You may be eligible for an outside award from a variety of sources including employers, unions, professional organizations, the military, community, religious, and special interest groups.
Drew recommends that you avoid any scholarship offer that requires you to pay a fee, attend a seminar, or claims a guarantee. Also, be cautious should a program request personal information such as bank account, credit card, or Social Security numbers. Visit the Federal Trade Commission to learn more about scholarship fraud.
There are dozens of free, secure, scholarship search engines dedicated to locating outside scholarships. In addition to conducting your own search, the following are good starting points:
Outside awards will be used to meet any unmet need in the financial aid package. Once need has been fully met, an adjustment may be made to the self-help portion (work-study and loans) of the package based on federal and state regulations. Drew University need-based grants will be reduced only if the total of all scholarships and grants exceeds the student’s financial need. Outside awards will have no impact on Drew University merit based scholarships unless the total of all grants and scholarships exceeds the cost of attendance.
Students are encouraged to research and apply for additional resources to assist with college expenses. We encourage you to contact our office to confer with your financial aid counselor about how a particular award may affect your aid. In addition, please contact the Office of Financial Assistance at 973-408-3112 or firstname.lastname@example.org upon receipt of any outside awards or if you have any questions regarding these scholarships.
