First year students have the opportunity to take part in a three hour self defense workshop led by Prepare, Inc. This workshop is NOT mandatory and is open to ALL first year students. It is available on a first come, first served basis. Space is EXTREMELY limited, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible to ensure your place! Please note, due to the physicality and nature of this workshop, students participating must sign a waiver form.
Join Prepare instructors as they lead you through an empowerment-based self-defense, personal safety, and communications skills workshop. They use real life scenarios that recreate the type of challenges that college students are likely to encounter. These include street crime, sexual violence, peer pressure, harassment, and unwelcome attention. The workshops foster increased self-confidence and an enhanced sense of personal power – as well as the ability to be effective advocates and allies for others.
2:00 to 5:00 PM in the Simon Forum
