Aside from the rules listed below, please remember the most important rule, check your work.
Your page is a reflection of your department and Drew as a whole. It only takes a moment to view your page after editing, and it’s very important that we make all pages look professional and readable.
All Sites
- Page Titles Should Use Capitalized Case. This Line is an Example of That.
- Use headers h2-4 to define sections. Separate content logically to improve readability.
- Headers should use capitalized case (This is an Appropriate Title Example)
- Headers should typically never be given additional styling such as italics or bolding.
- Never underline text. This is a style reserved for links only.
- ALL CAPS should never be used unless it is the proper name of something like UKNOW.
- Never make a link that says “click here.”Instead link the words pertaining to the link.
- Example: “For more, view our full calendar of events.”
- Use alt text on photos, captions only when appropriate.
- Only use tables for data, not layout.
- No font colors.
- Single spaces after periods, not double. (<-This it too many spaces)
- Phone numbers should be in the form 973-408-3000, so that enabled devices see them as real numbers and are able to dial them.
Forms
- Should be no more than 20 questions (counting any combination of conditionals).
- You should be able to maintain the form yourself, if you can’t that’s a sign it’s too complicated.
- We can’t reliably send form responses to non-drew emails, that would have to be a manual process.
Academic Department Sites
- Must link to college catalog for course information
Things to Know
- Image headers are 735×240
