Several times during the year, our president Robert Weisbuch hits the airwaves from Drew's on-campus radio station, WMNJ-FM. "The President Bob Show" often features interviews with guests from the university community, as well as his "Desert Island Playlist." In this clip, President Weisbuch interviews members of That Medieval Thing, STAND leader Jenna Matthews and two undergraduate tennis stars.

Following the Nobel-worthy lead of former Vice President Al Gore, Drew students are doing their part to spread the word about being eco-friendly. In this short film, students at Drew show their classmates easy ways to reduce their environmental impact. The Honorable Tom Kean, former President of Drew University, made his first official return to Drew this past week since stepping down from his post in 2005. He spoke about Middle Eastern relations and his views on current events in American foreign policy. The former two-term governor of New Jersey is a much sought-after speaker, and University Reporter, Ted Johnsen, was there and had the chance to get a one-on-one interview with him.
This past weekend showed that the Drew Rangers are a force to be reckoned with. University Reporter, Ted Johnsen, attended all home athletic events this past Saturday, and captured the athletic spirit that resonates throughout the school. Johnsen was also able to get a post-match interview with eventual Freedom Conference Tournament MVP, Jason Woods.
Every year “That Medieval Thing,” a student club at Drew, sponsors a medieval festival called MedFest. This year the weather was great and hundreds of students, faculty and others packed the Drew campus to enjoy the event. University Reporter, Ted Johnsen, was at MedFest and took part in several of the activities, including a joust against NCAA Fencing qualifier, Dana Sanford.
Famed investigative reporter, Bob Woodward, came to campus on Thursday to speak in front of a near sell-out crowd. The speech entitled “Plan of Attack” talked about the uncertainties inside the White House, as well as, amongst the top commanders in the military. University Reporter, Ted Johnsen, was able to ask a question to Woodward during the Q&A portion, and accidentally referred to him as Mr. Woodruff. It’s very subtle in the video, but take a look.
There is no question that the Theatre Department at Drew is well-respected throughout the country. What makes it so good? Lucky for us, the DrewTube cameras were able to gain access to a recent rehearsal for the upcoming production of The Parable of John. Carla Emanuele, the student director of the play, also was able to give us insight into the Theatre Arts major at Drew and why it is such a good program.
Drew’s all-male a cappella group, 36 Madison Avenue, is a staple on Drew’s campus. After recently reaching the semi-finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, the group is busy promoting their newest CD, “Fun with Music.” Ross Michaels, the group’s president, is very excited about the new album and, as he explains, is hopeful that it will become a hit in the world of a cappella.

Despite having to square off against such elite schools as Penn State and Ohio State, the Drew fencing team has consistently shown its ability to compete at the highest level. University reporter, Ted Johnsen, was at the NCAA Fencing Championships, which were hosted by Drew, and explores the mysterious world of fencing.
In 1994 a major genocide broke out in Rwanda. As nearly 1 million Rwandans were being slaughtered in only 3 months, Paul Rusesabagina heroically saved the lives of over 1,200 refugees by allowing them into his hotel. The movie, Hotel Rwanda, is inspired by Rusesabagina, and Drew University was very lucky to be able to welcome him to campus on March 6. University reporter, Ted Johnsen, had the opportunity to interview Rusesabagina about his remarkable story.
The Pan African Choir has surged on to the Drew scene in recent months. In just its first year, the choir already has over 40 members, and has exceeded all expectations. Currently, the choir sings gospel music, but future plans have the Pan African Choir performing several different genres of African music. As our cameras found, there’s no limit in sight.
Spring is here, and that means that the women's rugby team is back on the field. As they look toward their upcoming schedule, the women seem confident that they'll have another successful season. Club president, Tori Frederick, takes us inside the ropes, and shows us what the rugby craze is all about.
Nearly 400 students filled the Baldwin Gymnasium on Friday night for the first-ever "Mr. Drew" competition. Ten upperclassmen competed in four categories (Sleep-wear, Formal-wear, Talent, and Q&A), but only one walked away with the title "Mr. Drew." As university reporter Ted Johnsen discovered, it was a night for the ages.
Winter at Drew is a fun time of the year. However, excessive snow can cause problems for many students when they try to get to around campus. For one student, it is just the opposite: winter allows him to get to class in a very unique and fashionable way. University reporter, Ted Johnsen, found Jordan Bloc just as he was heading out the door to one of his classes, and what you see may surprise you.
When Drew’s men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Farleigh Dickinson at the Baldwin Gym, it was more than just your average Senior Night double-header. Instead, it was 70’s Night, and everyone was encouraged to dress in their grooviest attire. University Reporter, Ted Johnsen, was there and shows that Drew students really do have school spirit.
In January 2007 a team of students, faculty and staff from Drew University and Centenary College went to New Orleans to help with the continued rebuild. Two teams were sent to the house of Mike and Ida Caswell to help them remove the contents and gut the house. At the end of a hard day of work, something very special happened.
In the fall of 2006, Drew University student Andrew Juliano, a men’s soccer player and also a competitive mountain biker, and Head Athletic Trainer Chris Ryan rode through the Drew campus in an attempt to give a unique tour. Andrew strapped a camcorder to his bike helmet and gave a running commentary during his ride while Chris had a camera attached to his handlebars.
In the final episode of 'Russian 101' the students are discussing how best to prepare for their final exam. They've been waiting for their instructor to show up all semester--but it's been 'Waiting for Godot' -- he's never arrived! Will he show up for the final class...? (This skit was produced by Drew language students to help them pratice their pronunciation.)
