Student Clubs

When Drew students arrive on campus, they bring their unique interests and curiosities. With over 50 active and varied extra-curricular organizations, undergraduates explore their interests with groups of their peers. Among other themes, Drew’s clubs focus on athletics, religion, politics, environmentalism, music, culture and volunteerism. Students who wish to do so are encouraged to start new organizations. 36 Madison Avenue
36 Madison Avenue is Drew's only all-male a cappella group. MadAve, as the group is often called, has made several appearances at the International Collegiate Championship of A Cappella where it has earned recognition for having outstanding soloists and vocal percussion. Each semester, the group hosts concerts and performs at a variety of school functions.
Alpha Phi Omega
Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is a service fraternity based upon the principles of friendship, leadership and service. The organization offers a unique blend of programs to help members grow as individuals and as a group. APO limits its activities to four categories of service-- to campus, fraternity, community and nation. Fellowship and leadership opportunities also are available to group members.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International's goal is to raise awareness about global human rights issues and increase involvement in the protection of such rights.
Ariel
Ariel is dedicated to fostering a better understanding of Latino cultures and promoting the benefits of diversity on campus and in the community. Members enhance Drew's multicultural atmosphere by hosting fun, educational events with broad appeal.
Art Community in Drew
The Art Community in Drew strives to make the visual arts accessible to all students. Members participate in various activities throughout the year, such as trips to museums, galleries and exhibits, as well as having professional artists speak on campus. Other activities include open-studio model sessions and various art-oriented events open to the university community.
Art History Club
This organization provides opportunities to explore art outside of the classroom. Activities include discussions, field trips and guest lectures relevant to the appreciation of art.
ASiA (Asian Significance in America) Club
A.S.i.A. Club is committed to exploring the influence of Asian philosophies, customs, politics, trends and economics on the rest of the world. The group seeks to promote tolerance and awareness through lectures, dinners, talent shows and other interactive events.
Axe'! Capoeira
Axe'! Capoeira strives to share this unique martial art with the Drew community. Twice a week, members provide classes that allow students to experience and enjoy capoeira and other elements of Afro-Brazilian culture including music and dance.
C.I.A.O (Cultural Italian American Organization)
C.I.A.O. (Cultural Italian American Organization) is a student-run organization dedicated to informing students about Italian and Italian-American culture in an attempt to dispel common stereotypes while enjoying the heritage and language. The Club is very active in organizing cultural and community events, field trips to New York, Opera nights, lectures with international guests (some co-sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute of New York), film screening, an annual dinner Gala, charities events. Students of all majors are welcome.
Catholic Campus Ministry
Catholic Campus Ministry serves the Catholic community at Drew by providing planning and coordination for educational, guidance-oriented, social and intergroup activities.
Circle K
With the simple goal of helping others, Circle K members volunteer on campus and in the community.
College Republicans
The College Republicans' mission is to ensure that conservative thought and opinions have an outlet at Drew University. The group's members work towards communitywide acceptance of conservatism through educational programming.
Comic Book Club
The Comic Book Club is a student run club based on the appreciation of sequential art. We are dedicated to increasing knowledge and participation in the graphic medium. To do this we have many New York based Comic Book writers and artists come speak at Drew.
Drew Cheerleading
The cheerleading squad consists of dedicated Drew students who promote school spirit, enthusiasm, pride and unity, predominantly through the means of athletic display. The group's members are proud to support varsity sports by boosting morale and cheering on Drew's athletes.
Drew College Democrats
The Drew College Democrats work to promote progressive and democratic values on campus, as well as foster political dialogue and debate among students. The group also plays an integral role in national, state and local democratic party activities by bringing speakers to campus and informing students of campaign internship and volunteer opportunities.
Drew Dance Club
This organization works to promote the artistic and athletic elements of dance. Each spring, members present a student-choreographed show featuring a variety of dance styles and techniques.
Drew Dance Team
The dance team provides entertainment at Drew's sporting events, volunteer outings and dance exhibitions. Increasing campuswide interest in dance and enhancing Drew's related offerings are the goals of group members.
Drew Environmental Action League
The mission of this organization is to increase campuswide awareness of environmental issues. The group's members work to promote activism and positive change towards a more sustainable world and provide environmental volunteer opportunities for Drew students.
Drew Honduras Project
The Drew Honduras Project is a student-run volunteer program that annually sends a select group to Honduras. While abroad, members learn from their experiences as volunteers. On campus, they are active in team building and fundraising events that make each trip a reality.
Drew Improv Players
The Drew Improv Players practice the unique art of improvisational theatre. Their shows, which mainly feature comedy, are performed several times each semester and are open to the entire Drew community.
Drew Men's Rugby Football Club
This club allows male students to engage in the competitive play of rugby against other accredited colleges and universities. Club members become knowledgeable about the sport while participating in team building activities, practicing and competing.
Drew Organization of Anime
The members of the Drew Organization of Anime are Japanese animation enthusiasts. The group's activities are designed to foster the interests of current members and introduce other students to this unique art.
Drew University Chorale
The chorale is an audition-only ensemble consisting of approximately 40 men and women. This SATB (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) group performs large choral works, such as "Brahms Requiem" and Vivaldi's "Magnificat," smaller vocal pieces and original works by local composers. Rehearsals are held twice a week with one major concert per semester.
Drew University Crochet and Knitting Society
This organization is composed of students, faculty and staff members who gather once a week to practice the crafts of crocheting and knitting. Attendees use meetings to learn new skills and create items that are donated to charitable organizations.
Drew University Dramatic Society
The object of the Drew University Dramatic Society (D.U.D.S.) is to act as a co-producing organization in conjunction with the Drew University Theatre Arts Department, as well as encouraging and supporting other theatrical endeavors.
Drew University Habitat for Humanity
Drew Habitat for Humanity strives to carry out the goals of its international parent organization. Members of the group take pride in doing their part to eliminate homelessness from the world and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Drew University Orchestra
The Drew University Orchestra is a musical performance ensemble. The group frequently uses Drew's concert hall, where members play a wide variety of music by many prominent composers. The orchestra also has been known to premiere musical compositions written by Drew students.
Drew University Pre-Medical Society
The Drew University Pre-Medical Society (DUPMS) provides guidance and direction for students interested in pursing a career in medicine. DUPMS sponsors a variety of informative events including open houses and question-and-answer sessions with prominent members of the medical community.
Drew University Sociology Club
This organization sponsors educational programs and applies sociological concepts to everyday life.
Drew University Student Television
This organization's mission is to give students the use of television as a creative outlet. Club members are encouraged to use the medium to showcase their work and provide easily-accessible, quality entertainment for the university community.
Drew University Ultimate Frisbee Club
This organization creates and maintains competitive men's and women’s teams that compete in the fall and spring seasons. Drew's teams also participate in tournaments in New Jersey and surrounding states.
Drew Women's Rugby Football Club
Drew Women's Rugby Football Club (DWRFC) is an organization dedicated to teaching new players the game of rugby and providing a place for female athletes to participate in the sport. The club competes against other collegiate teams in the Metropolitan New York Rugby Union during two seasons--fall and spring. DWRFC also fosters an environment of teamwork and support.
French Club
The French Club promotes and sponsors activities related to the language and culture of France and other Francophone regions. Students of all majors are welcome.
German Club
The Drew German Club is a group for who are interested in German culture and society regardless of whether they are of German heritage or speak German. The Club holds both on and off campus events such as trips to New York City, different museums, the Metropolitan opera house, festivals, film screening, and more. All are welcome to join.
GLBTQ Alliance
The GLBTQ Alliance seeks to provide a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer students at Drew University. The group defines itself as an activist organization that focuses on significant issues related to the GLBTQ community.
Hillel: Jewish Student Organization
Hillel seeks to provide students with cultural, educational, social and spiritual activities in order to maintain and further develop Jewish identity. Activities include bagel brunches, home-cooked Shabbat dinners twice a month, creative Shabbat services, social events with other small colleges and universities in New Jersey, outings in New York City, film nights and interesting lectures.
Historiae
Historiae is a student organization that promotes the appreciation and awareness of modern global history. Students of all majors with an interest in history are welcome.
Insanity's Horse
Students who contribute to "Insanity's Horse" are committed to publishing an arts and literary journal of superior quality. The editors accept submissions of poetry, short stories, plays, creative nonfiction and excerpts from novels. Artwork--including photographs, paintings, sketches and digital images also are considered for publication.
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
IVCF is a religious organization open to teaching all students about Christianity. Members hold weekly small group Bible studies, monthly large group meetings, retreats and other campus events.
Kuumba, The Pan-African Student Organization
The purpose of Kuumba is to promote the recognition and appreciation of Pan-African culture and history. The group seeks to provide a forum for the discussion of issues relating to all people of African descent through activities such as films, excursions, lectures and discussions.
Middle East Student Association
The mission of the Middle East Student Association is to educate, celebrate and foster an awareness of the culture, politics and history of the Middle East.
Music Society
The Music Society strives to increase student participation in activities and classes provided by Drew's music department.
Muslim Student Association
The Muslim Student Association is dedicated to teaching Drew students about the religion of Islam. By studying the cultures and practices of Muslims in the United States and around the world, the group fosters an atmosphere of understanding within the community.
Oakleaves
"Oakleaves," Drew University’s yearbook, seeks to commemorate the experiences of all Drew students. With the help of Herff Jones, the book's publisher, and DaVor Photography, each issue captures the essence of the featured graduating class. The yearbook staff members are encouraged to use their creativity to enhance the final product.
On A Different Note
On A Different Note (OADN) is Drew's only all-female a cappella group. Members enjoy performing a variety of musical compositions at several on- and off-campus events throughout the year. OADN takes great pride in enriching and entertaining the Drew community through music.
Pagan Society
The Pagan Society provides a supportive environment in which interested students can learn about Neo-Pagan beliefs and traditions. Activities include celebrating Pagan holidays and exploring nature-based spirituality through discussion, meditation and ritual. The group hopes to educate the larger community about Paganism and engage in positive interfaith dialogue.
Robert Smith Political Science and Law Society
The Robert Smith Political Science and Law Society is a nonpartisan, student-run club for undergraduates with an interest in law, public policy, government and/or politics. Attempting to satisfy both the social and academic interests of students, the society runs a wide range of activities including debates, discussions, conferences, meetings, field trips, guest speeches and competitions. The group also serves to promote graduate education by working to inform students about law school and academic programs related to political science.
Running Club
The purpose of this club is to educate its members and the campus about the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle. The Running Club will allow students to have a directed exercise program under the supervision of competent advisors and provide the opportunity for competition in local track meets in the winter and spring. Seeking to promote a link between fitness and a healthy lifestyle is the club’s main goal.
Russian Club
The Drew Russian Club is for anyone interested in Russian language, culture and society and is a good chance to enhance speaking skills as well as meet others interested in Russia. The Russian Club has many events such as Russian Tea Time, where students can practice speaking Russian (but are not required to know Russian) and enjoy Russian delicacies accompanied by an authentic Russian samovar. Off-campus excursions are taken to Brighton Beach, where students can immerse themselves in Russian culture close to home by visiting Russian book stores, movie shops, restaurants, and interacting with native Russian speakers. The club is open to everyone and prior knowledge of Russia and/or Russian language is not required.
STAND (A Student-Anti Genocide Coalition)
STAND (A Student-Anti Genocide Coalition) is a world wide student coalition dedicated to the cause of human rights and advancement of the people in Darfur, Sudan. Among them are 400,000 dead, 2.5 million internally displaced, 3.5 million are starving and the numbers continues to rise daily. STAND might not stop the atrocities that are taking place, but it will bring light to the situation, making it impossible for anyone to deny what is going on in Sudan. This club is a type of kinship between people of all races, religions and backgrounds who are coming together to spread the word against the maltreatment of any human being. It will bring a small amount of aid to the people that are in dire need of it. It will let the government know that we are not backing down and never again, means NEVER AGAIN! The National STAND Coalition brings together over 700 colleges and high schools in the United States and Canada.
That Medieval Thing
That Medieval Thing (TMT) is a student-run reenactment group. The members of TMT are committed to recreating as many aspects of the medieval era as possible. Along with regular gatherings to create garments and practice combat, the group holds a fall banquet called Revels and a spring festival commonly known as MedFest.
The Acorn
"The Acorn" is Drew University's weekly, student-run newspaper. Members of the staff cover university news, opinions, arts and leisure and sports. Talented and motivated student writers and photographers are encouraged to contribute to "The Acorn."
The Other End Coffeehouse and Cabaret
The Other End (TOE) Coffeehouse and Cabaret provides a comfortable atmosphere for students to eat, study and enjoy live music during the late-night hours.
University Program Board
The University Program Board (UPB) is the student run volunteer programming organization at Drew University. UPB's purpose is to provide the College of Liberal Arts, the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies and the Theological School with cultural, educational, recreational, and social programs.
WMNJ - Drew University Radio
WMNJ, Drew's student-run radio station, can be heard by tuning to 88.9 FM. The station offers a wide range of program formats and always is looking for DJs. Students who are involved with WMNJ provide quality entertainment for members of the Drew community and those within range of the station's signal.
Women's Concerns Club
The mission of the Women's Concerns Club is to promote feminism at Drew and foster an awareness of social, political, and environmental issues that affect women. Group members seek to establish a cohesive, dynamic organization that responds to the needs and interests of its members and the Drew community.
