Certification in Ministry of the City
Drew Theological School is pleased to announce that it will be offering Certification in Ministry of the City starting Fall 2012. Interested students should apply using the non-degree application online or by downloading the form.
Professional certification recognizes that an individual has been called and is making a commitment to serve with excellence in an area of specialized ministry. Drew Theological School’s Certificate in Ministry of the City is a non-degree program designed to academically, culturally and practically prepare individuals to engage in ministry in urban environments. It explores the city in the Bible and its role in congregations and communities, reviews theological concepts in community organizing, raises cultural awareness and sensitivity, and provides field experience in various urban settings. This program aligns with GBHEM’s Urban Ministry Certification.
Professional certification is available to lay persons, ordained deacons and elders, local pastors and diaconal ministers. Students enrolled in MA/ MDiv degree programs may take the certification classes as electives. United Methodist students will be certified by their annual conferences working with the General Board of Higher Education. Non-Methodist students will receive a Certificate in Ministry of the City directly from Drew.
Certification in Spiritual Formation
Drew Theological School is pleased to offer Certification in Spiritual Formation. Interested students should apply using the non-degree application online or by downloading the form. Professional certification recognizes that an individual has been called and is making a commitment to serve with excellence in an area of specialized ministry. The Certificate in Spiritual Formation provides biblical, theological, and historical introductory studies and skill development in Christian spiritual formation in a setting of support and accountability.
Professional certification is available to lay persons, ordained deacons and elders and diaconal ministers. Students enrolled in MA/MDiv degree programs may take the certification classes as electives. United Methodist students will be certified by their annual conferences working with the General Board of Higher Education. Non-Methodist students will receive a Certificate in Spiritual Formation Studies directly from Drew.
Camp and Retreat Certification
Camp and Retreat Certification Courses at Drew University Theological School provide a valuable foundation in camp and retreat ministries for those entering into these ministries, and undergirds practical experience with a Biblical, theological and management framework for experienced camp and retreat professionals. This is a non-degree program; however, interested participants must apply for admission.
