Instructors: Mr. Michael Stanley and Mr. Michael Gecan
This course will assist participants to develop their power and leadership skills. Students will learn how to develop any congregation or voluntary organization through engaging in the fundamentals of community organizing. The course is led by the Industrial Areas Foundation, a group with an outstanding record in effecting social change.

Justpeace Center for Mediation and Conflict Transformation Training
Next Course: to be announced: Engage Conflict Well: The Spirit and Art of Conflict Transformation
This course will explore the theology, theory and practice of faith-based conflict transformation. Students will look first to how theology and spiritual life prepares them for engaging others, including attitude toward conflict, skill development (listening, speaking, use of the imagination and the craft of forgiveness), formation as a peacebuilder, and the development of a constructive understanding of their role. They then will see how theology and spiritual life inform their engagement of those in conflict. The class will practice one form of facilitation, the circle process, which will include an exploration of the role of ritual, the importance of relational covenants, appreciative inquiry and the art of asking questions, interest-based mediation and restorative justice.
