Legal Ease vs. Legalese: What Churches Need to Know
Rev. Dr. Robert E. Costello, Gateway South District Superintendent, Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
Time: 9:30 am – 12:00 noon
Location: Seminary Hall, Room 205
“Knowledge is power!” That is absolutely true in the arena of law. Because of our ignorance of the law we often experience conflict, financial loss, emotional trauma, time waste, fines, unemployment, deportation, imprisonment and barriers that block our most altruistic goals.
The attorney/instructor will share a fast-paced outline of useful information that can help protect and empower us to do ministry with legal ease. He will provide a practical overview of topics such as liabilities, finances, real estate, employment, corporations, immigration, taxes and church law. Traffic tickets and crimes are left to another day unless time permits.
