Drew Theological School believes that all of its students need to acquire a basic level of competency in the use of computer technology as well as an appreciation for the ways in which it can be used in ministry. All matriculated degree students in the Master of Divinity program must purchase a computer through Drew or demonstrate that they have an equivalent machine. Many Drew courses make use of course websites to post readings, encourage discussion, and share work.
At the master's level, Drew offers a few courses entirely on the internet. These include three courses that are necessary for United Methodists – both semesters of United Methodist History Doctrine and Polity as well as the course on Evangelism in the Methodist tradition. Electives are offered on a rotating basis. During 2008 the following courses will be offered:
Spring 2008:
- Logon 261 United Methodist History, Doctrine and Polity II
Fall 2008:
- Logon 260 United Methodist History, Doctrine and Polity I
Drew also offers a Doctor of Ministry concentration, the "Global/Online" program, which makes extensive use of internet education. Several courses are offered online and students continue to communicate through the program phase online.
