I have been President of Habitat for Humanity, the Orientation Committee, and the Drew Uganda Initiative. I have worked as a Resident Assistant, and am a member of Tri-beta (the Biology Honors Society) and the SGA. I work in the Student Activities Office and tutor both on and off-campus.  I have traveled to Uganda and Kenya through programs at Drew, and will be going to Italy in January ’12.  In my free time, I like to relax with my friends, go for ice cream, or catch a movie. My career goal had been to be a doctor because I have always dreamed of helping people. After various internships through Drew, however, I have realized that there are many ways of ‘practicing’ medicine.  After Drew, I will pursue a career in medical research.

I am a member of the Baldwin Honors program, the Vice-President of TriBeta, Treasurer for the Pre-Health Society, and a member of DUDS and Habitat for Humanity. I am a tutor at the Writing Center. I have been a contributing writer for the school newspaper The Acorn, and want to become a professional writer. I have participated in several intramural sports, discovering along the way that I continue to be good at dodge ball.  Before coming to Drew, for four summers I worked as a surveyor in Stamford, CT and saved up enough to take a year off after high school and drive cross country. I had once felt I was not ready to go to college, but the last three years at Drew have been a unique experience.  I look forward to sharing my stories with you.

Along with my major, I am very involved in the Theater Arts department and with the visual and performing arts.  I will spend this coming fall semester in Paris as an exchange student.  I have traveled to Paris before, and to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on a DIS.  I work at the EOS office as a Student Ambassador and as a video journalist intern in the Communications Department. I grew up in South Jersey, and love to explore new places and cultures. I also love playing sports, especially basketball.  After Drew, I plan to work in Paris for a year, and then return to the United States to continue my education in acting and entertainment and obtain an MFA in acting.

Apart from my studies and playing field hockey, I like to stay involved in on-campus activities, particularly events run by Kuumba and its theme house, Umoja.  These activities give me a chance to meet various people who have points of view that are different from mine.  I have met many close friends through this club.  In my free time I stay involved with sporting events. I also like to go off-campus sometimes, taking the train to New York with friends or staying local and spending time right here in Madison. After Drew, I want to pursue graduate studies in Counseling with a focus on urban adolescents.

I am a transfer student transitioning into my junior year at Drew. I am involved in the Orientation Committee, the Residence Hall Association, and the University Programming Board. I will be traveling to Egypt in December 2011 as part of a DIS titled “Faith and Exile,” and will focus on the Sudanese refugee crisis in Egypt. As a transfer student, I came to Drew not knowing what the future might hold, but the support and knowledge offered by the faculty has led me to plan to pursue an education in medicine. I will be taking my medical school entrance exam at the end of this academic year. Wish me luck!
