Alpha Kappa Delta, the international sociology honor society, was founded by a distinguished sociologist, Emory S. Bogardus, in the Department of Sociology at the University of Southern California in 1920. There are 500 chapters of AKD at colleges and universities in the United States. There are chapters of AKD at universities in Canada, China, Finland, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan. The Nu Chapter at Drew University was established in 1994.
