Drew University offers residents the options to live in residence halls or special interest housing where students with similar goals and focus areas have an opportunity to form community. Residence Life believes one’s residence hall experience is integral to the outstanding education Drew offers its students. Each residence complex is unique and contributes to a rich and diverse community. Campus Life and Student Affairs partner with the College of Liberal Arts to offer the First Year Living Learning Experience, Baldwin Honors, Civic Scholars, CLA Theme Houses, Global Village, Quiet Floors, Single Gender Floors, Gender Inclusive, and Wellness/Substance Free Floors.
First Year Special Interest areas include the First Year Living Learning Experience, Civic Scholars, and Wellness/Substance Free Floors. These allow first-year residents to reside with classmates who are participating in similar classes or wish to be in a similar environment. More opportunities for connecting with faculty, staff, and student mentors within their residence hall are encouraged by living on these floors. These programs provide further engagement in classroom experiences, help to ease into community living, and allow for further participation in extra-curricular activities.
Upperclass Special Interest Areas include the Baldwin Scholars, CLA Theme Houses, Gender Inclusive, and Quiet Floors. Global Village Learning Community and the Wellness/Substance floors are in first-year and upperclass residence halls. They are open to all students.
Roommates and Room Assignments
In creating these environments, studies and experience show that intact cohort communities create the optimal environment for the best experience. As such, your roommate will also be a student in the same special interest program. You must live on the specific special interest floor to be a member of this group, unless you are a commuter student. Assignments are made via our Housing Coordinator.
Space is limited for many of these exciting programs. For more information, please contact the Office of Residence Life, Housing, and Community Standards at firstname.lastname@example.org or 973-408-3394. Please explore the specific programs on the webpages for more detailed information.
