Residency I

  • MFA 800 001 Poetry Workshop I 3 credits: Student attends 6 poetry workshops
  • MFA 804 001 Craft Seminar & Residency Essay I 4 credits: Student attends all craft lectures & Poetry readings. Student turns in a written journal/essay covering specific events during the residency

Mentorship Semester I

  • MFA 805 001 Poetry Writing I 5 credits: Student sends approximately 16-20 poems over the course of the semester to mentor for critique.
  • MFA 808 001 Critical Writing & Reading I 4 credits: Student reads approximately 20-25 books and writes 8 short papers over the course of the semester.

Semester Two

Residency II

  • MFA 810 001 Poetry Workshop II 3 credits: Student attends 6 poetry workshops, including 2 New Work Workshops.
  • MFA 814 001 Craft Seminar & Residency Essay II 4 credits: Student attends all craft lectures & Poetry readings. Student turns in a written journal/essay covering specific events during the residency.

Mentorship Semester II

  • MFA 815 001 Poetry Writing II 5 credits: Student sends approximately 16-20 poems over the course of the semester to mentor for critique.
  • MFA 818 001 Critical Writing & Reading II 4 credits: Student reads approximately 20-25 books and writes 8 short papers over the course of the semester.

Residency III

  • MFA 819 001 Poetry Workshop III 3 credits; Student attends 6 poetry workshops, including 2 New Work Workshops.

  • MFA 831 001 Poetry Manuscript 5 credits: Student completes a manuscript of poems (approximately 48 pages).
  • MFA 834 001 Critical Writing & Reading IV 4 credits: Student reads approximately 20-25 books, writes a publishable book review, prepares for the senior panel and senior reading.

900 001 Residency V

  • Senior panel presentation, senior reading, pedagogy panel and workshop, and graduation (no credit): Student gives a senior panel presentation and a senior reading.
