Your registration may be affected by advanced placement or credit that you have earned for any of the following:

  1. CEEB Advanced Placement Examination(s) in which you have earned a score of 4 or 5.
  2. Credit and course exemption may be granted for scores of 5 or better on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Examination, at the discretion of the department.
  3. College courses taken on the campus of an accredited college or university with college/university students in which a grade of C or better (2.00 on a 4.00 scale) was earned and which is acceptable in a liberal arts program. (E.g. a course in English, history, sociology would probably be counted where a course in technical drawing or auto mechanics would not). In order to receive credit for the such courses, you must complete the request for college credit form and submit it to the Registrar’s office for a review of your credits. You are responsible for requesting that a transcript be sent to the Registrar from the college or university offering the course. Note that ‘college’ courses offered by a community college or 4-year institution in a high school building which enrolls only high school students will not be accepted for transfer credit.

When information is received by the Registrar’s office before the opening of school, you and your adviser will be notified by the final registration day about any credit and/or advanced placement you may have. The credit will be applied to your record when Drew receives your scores.

The chart below summarizes the policies of individual departments regarding credit and exemption for scores of 4 or 5 (except as noted) on CEEB Advanced Placement examinations. The column headed “Credits” indicates the number of credits towards graduation to be granted for each satisfactory AP examination score. The column headed “Gen Ed” indicates which of the General Education requirements the examination may be used to satisfy, if any. Note that a student might receive 8 credits toward graduation, but be able to apply only 4 of them toward a General Education requirement.  Please note that AP credits cannot be applied to Breadth requirements in General Education.  The column headed “Courses” indicates Drew courses for which credit is given on the basis of the particular AP examination. No student may receive credit for both an AP exam and the designated related course. When no course is designated, generally no credit for a specific course is offered, but students may consult the relevant department to discuss credit. Such exemption does not confer additional Drew credit. For further information on exemption policies, see the statements included in each department’s catalog entry.
