Special Note Regarding Registration for Students not in Course Work

Graduate Division of Religion regulations require all degree seeking students to maintain continuous enrollment in their programs. As a result, students not registered for course work must be either 1) registered for Continuous Registration, 2) registered for dissertation research, or 3) on an approved leave of absence. Students not registered for course work or on an approved leave of absence by the first day of classes will be automatically registered for the appropriate Continuous Registration course. The appropriate tuition charges and late registration fee will apply. Contact the Office of the Registrar at 973-408-3025 for additional information.

Registration for Continuous Registration, Dissertation Research, & Tutorials

* The signature of your Academic Advisor or the Chair of the Graduate Division is now required to register for Continuous Registration and Dissertation Research.*

Continuous Registration

To assist students in the registration process for Continuous Registration, we have made the following changes to the process:

  1. All statuses are now grouped on the course list by the progress in your program. For example, if you are a master of arts student preparing languages, all statuses that apply to this stage of your program would be grouped together.
  2. A description of each Continuous Registration status will appear on the course list. Students can use this information to assist them in the registration process.
  3. Additional statuses have been created to eliminate the need for students to repeat the same status multiple times.
  4. A website listing instructions on the registration for maintaining matriculation statuses is available here.

Dissertation Research

Our office has also made a change to the course number for dissertation research and tutorials. All dissertation research courses have been changed for Ph.D students according to the following: Old designation, BIBST 999, etc. These designations belonging to all PhD departments are now DISST 998 and DISST 999. (All PhD students have to complete two course sections for dissertation research).

The registration form should carry the title of the tutorial and the name of the instructor.

Special note for students registering for tutorials. The registration course section for tutorials has been changed from BIBST 900, THEPH 900 etc., to TUT 900.

Colloquium

All graduate students in residence are expected to participate in the Graduate School Colloquium and in area colloquia where offered.
