Swine Flu Bulletin from Drew Health Services
April 28, 2009 -- In response to recent media reports about an increased number of swine influenza cases around the world, Drew's department of health services sent a message to the university community on Monday, April 27. The message made clear that there are no known or suspected cases of the virus at Drew, but the university is encouraging its students, faculty and staff to take commonsense precautions. While there is no immediate need for concern, Drew officials are closely monitoring the situation and are staying in contact with the Madison Health Department.
The university encourages students who are experiencing flu-like symptoms to contact the department of health services at 973/408-3414. Faculty and staff who feel ill should contact their primary care provider.

Update (May 1, 2009) -- Drew’s department of health services continues to monitor the situation closely and remains in contact with local health officials. The university is following the latest guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as detailed in the bulletin “H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Infections Alert for Institutions of Higher Education.” The university has also updated its protocol for managing pandemic influenza and distributed it to appropriate members of the Drew emergency response team. To date, there have been no cases of Swine Flu reported on the Drew campus and the university is operating on a normal schedule.
