Graduate School Open House Set for Apr. 1

MADISON, NJ—The Caspersen School of Graduate Studies at Drew University will host an Open House for prospective students on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The event will be held in Mead Hall on the university’s Madison campus.

The Open House is an informal program designed to help prospective students learn about graduate study at Drew University.  Guests will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and the deans, learn about financial aid, find out about housing, talk to enrolled students, and enjoy a light supper.  If you plan to attend, the Graduate Admissions Office appreciates reservations made in advance.  Please call 973/408-3110 to reserve your spot.

The Caspersen School is devoted to advanced study in the humanities.  Programs include:

•    The Master of Arts in Teaching program leads to provisional teaching certification in biology, chemistry, English, math, Spanish, or social studies.
•    In the Master of Fine Arts in Poetry program, students hone and develop their talent, as well as gain knowledge of the craft and poetics of contemporary American writers, and writers from other eras and cultures.
•    The History and Culture program is designed to train students for careers in academia and beyond. This interdisciplinary degree focuses on intellectual and cultural studies.
•    The Medical Humanities program engages all aspects of human culture—science, history, ethics, philosophy, literature, religion and art—in a discursive dialogue centered on what medicine means in relation to the individual and society.
•    The Arts and Letters program stresses a broad liberal arts education at the graduate level.

The Caspersen School’s programs leading to the M.A.T., M.F.A., M.A., M.Litt., M.M.H., Ph.D., D.Litt. and D.M.H. degrees are all designed to encourage a high concern for disciplinary interaction.  Its faculty and student body represent a wide variety of points of view, a diversity of ethnic and cultural identities, and many different vocational pursuits.

Individuals needing special assistance should contact the Housing, Conferences, and Hospitality Office at 973/408-3103.  Please notify this office at least five working days prior to the event to ensure appropriate arrangements.
