Weisbuch sets his sights on enacting the university’s strategic plan.

MADISON, NJ—President Robert Weisbuch will continue to serve as Drew’s leader through the 2016 academic year, under a contract extension granted by the university’s Board of Trustees at its winter meeting on February 11.

“Dr. Weisbuch has been an innovative and dynamic president for this institution,” said John H. Crawford III T’65, chairman of the board. “We view his leadership as critical to the realization of Drew’s future as outlined in the emerging strategic plan.”

“I am very gratified by the board’s confidence in Drew’s direction and our strategic plan,” said Weisbuch, noting that the community has invested much energy in the planning process this year. “Faculty, staff and students are developing some great ideas to support the plan’s four goals. My job over the next five years will be to find ways to make these ideas reality.”

Weisbuch, who is now in the sixth year of his presidency, views the plan as an extension of the work the community has done over the preceding years. In that time, new majors and programs have been created, the undergraduate student body has become much more diverse, the university has begun to become known as a place where classroom learning is tied to social impact and physical improvements have been made to the campus.

“Through the strategic plan, we have the opportunity to model the ways liberal arts learning can respond to both the urgencies of our times and the personal goals of our students,” said Weisbuch. “When I first came to Drew, I was impressed by its past and present, and thrilled by its future potential. I feel that all the more today.”

“Drew is on the move,” added Crawford. “My colleagues on the board and I are proud to be a part of this exciting chapter in the university’s history.”
