Drew offers leadership conference on May 8

MADISON, NJ—On Saturday, May 8, Drew University will host a conference that will examine leadership and survival strategies in business today.  The conference, “Leadership in a Time of Uncertainty,” will feature keynote addresses by Ed Moed of Peppercom, a leading global public relations firm, and Emilia Fabricant, former president of Charlotte Russe.  Members of the general public are welcome to attend.

Moed, who is a member of Drew’s Class of 1989, is the co-founder and managing partner of Peppercom, a full-service public relations firm.  His responsibilities include agency oversight and leadership, strategic planning and account direction, product development and new business.  He was listed in B2B Magazine’s “Who’s Who” in 2006, has been a finalist in Ernst & Young’s prestigious “Entrepreneur of the Year” award, and has been featured and provided expert commentary in the news media, including The Wall Street Journal, CNN and Bloomberg Brand Week.

Fabricant, who graduated from Drew in 1988, most recently served as a member of the board of directors and as president and chief merchandising officer of Charlotte Russe.  Before joining Charlotte Russe, she served as president and chief merchandising officer of babystyle, a maternity, infant and baby retailer.  In 2002, she founded Cadeau Maternity, a company created to offer elegant, fashion-forward maternity clothes, and served as the company’s chief executive officer until its purchase by babystyle in May 2007.  Her prior positions include president of sales and product development for Katayone Adeli and senior vice president for Barneys New York Co-op and Women’s Outlet divisions.

“Leadership in a Time of Uncertainty” will also offer sessions on such topics as organizational growth and business development strategies.

The conference coincides with the launch of Drew’s new business studies major and is the school’s first business leadership conference.  Business studies at Drew incorporates coursework from economics, math, religion, history and the school’s Business, Society and Culture program.
