Basic Reference Book(s) in the Discipline

  • Encyclopedia of Life Sciences a comprehensive online resource for biology including the biological aspects of environmental science containing signed-peer reviewed articles and includes overviews and advanced material.
  • Encyclopedia of Human Biology Reference 612.003 E56e 1997. Nine volume set covering 670 topics, but be aware that some information may be dated. Confirm/update the information with newer sources.
  • Credo Reference has contains two general dictionaries of Biology: Collins Dictionary of Biology and Penguin Dictionary of Biology

  • Encyclopedia of environmental biology. Reference 574.503 E56e Three volumes of articles on the biological aspects of environmental science. It was published in 1995, so use as a starting point, and update by reading more recent sources.
