  • Encyclopedia of Life Sciences –a comprehensive online resource for biology including the biological aspects of environmental science containing signed-peer reviewed articles and includes overviews and advanced material.
  • Encyclopedia of Human Biology Reference 612.003 E56e 1997. Nine volume set covering 670 topics, but be aware that some information may be dated. Confirm/update the information with newer sources.
  • Credo Reference has contains two general dictionaries of Biology: Collins Dictionary of Biology and Penguin Dictionary of Biology

  • Biological Abstracts–online index to several thousand biology journals, 1969-present. Links to Science Citation Index when there is information on an item both databases.
  • Web of Science/Science Citation Index–indexes the top (most cited) journals in 150+ scientific fields. Links Biological Abstracts when there is information on an item in both databases.
  • Science Direct–much full text content from select prestigious international publishers of science journals.

  • Encyclopedia of global change. Reference 363.7 E56e Available online and in print: 300 signed articles with bibliographies of interest in environmental science.
  • Encyclopedia of environmental biology. Reference 574.503 E56e Three volumes of articles on the biological aspects of environmental science. It was published in 1995, so use as a starting point, and update by reading more recent sources.
