On February 5, 1964, Martin Luther King, Jr. spent the day at Drew University. At 8 p.m. that evening he gave his lecture “The American Dream” before over 5,000 people. The talk was given in Baldwin Gymnasium and broadcast to overflow crowds in Great Hall and the University Center.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2014 we will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s speech and visit to the campus. Please join us for a special episode of “The Drew Vault” radio show on Drew University Radio WMNJ, which will include a broadcast of the recording of King’s speech that night. The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will be hosted by Dr. Christopher Anderson and Dr. Matthew Beland of the Drew University Library. You can listen to the broadcast over the PA system in the Ehinger Center or online at http://wmnjtheforest.com/
