As of Monday, March 19, management of the University’s Media Collection is moving to the Library. Faculty will now have access to the collection on nights and weekends, in keeping with Library hours.
Services will be provided as follows:
- All circulation, both check out and reserve, will go through the Library.
- Requests to place media on reserve go to Johanna Edge (jedge@drew.edu).
- The circulation desk will be able to check out films directly to faculty for use in class.
- Student use of media will be in the Library rather than the Media Resource Center.
- Media on reserve may only be taken out of the library by the person who placed it on reserve.
- Videos should be picked up and dropped off at the Library circulation desk.
- Shawn Spaventa (sspavent@drew.edu) will handle requests for showings on Drew TV.
- Nicole Pinto (npinto@drew.edu) will continue to handle requests for purchase of media for the time being.
In addition, Drew is piloting streaming media! Instructional Technology and the Library are pleased to be partnering in this effort. The licenses cover everyone at Drew and provide copyright-compliant multi-user access at the click of a link. We currently have all 37 BBC Shakespeare video recordings, Classical Music Library, and a collection
of over 300 plays and documentaries called Theatre in Video.
