Participate in archaeological field research and learn about the material culture of a local region of Italy in antiquity in a 4 credit Classics course; the program also includes a few field trips to local sites and museums. The excavation will take place 13 km outside the Italian city of Todi, approximately 1 1/2 hours north of Rome in the Tiber River Valley. The site itself is located just outside the small town of Massa Martana to the east of Todi, in a field beside the 8th-9th century church of S. Maria in Pantano.
