Accounts Payable Manager

Drew University is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Manager.  In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the accounts payable program including invoice processing, expense reimbursements, and vendor relations.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct all the activities of the Accounts Payable unit including expense reimbursement, wire requests, daily check runs, invoice processing, 1099 processing, unclaimed property, setup and maintain vendor information.
  • As required, interface and assist internal and external auditors.
  • Develop, administer, and communicate Accounts Payable Policies & Procedures.
  • Oversee and maintain the Accounts Payable functions of the BANNER system.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of processes through periodic review of practices and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to educate them on accounts payable policies and procedures, train them in the use of appropriate systems and strive to understand their needs as they relate to their interactions with the accounts payable unit.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all Drew University vendors. Liaises with vendors to resolve issues that may arise associated with processing invoices
  • Files, maintains and distributes accounting documents, records and reports.

Required Experience, Attributes, Skill sets 

  • 2-4 years of progressively more responsible experience in accounts payable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required/Master’s a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of the BANNER (or similar) systems used to manage the purchasing and procurement system is essential. 
  • Proven track record managing and continuously improving accounts payable departmental operations.
  • Ability to formulate a clear strategic vision for the ongoing growth and development of the Procurement Department.
  • An energetic, upbeat, patient/approachable and professional style.
  • Strong organizational skills; must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, high volume environment.
