General Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for providing emergency and non-emergency communication services in order to provide a safe and secure environment for the Drew community, and our visitors. Position requires use of several telephones, police radios, alarm systems, computer, and surveillance systems. Duties also include dispatching for 911 services, (police, fire and EMS). Responsible for updating and maintaining dispatch records, and the relay of information to officers in the field as requested. This position will rotate shifts between the dispatch desk and the university gatehouse.
Gatehouse responsibilities include monitoring and recording vehicles and pedestrians entering campus, issuing parking passes and collecting parking fees.
Selected candidate must be available nights, weekends and holidays.
Candidates must have demonstrated computer skills, excellent phone etiquette, and good public relation skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times. Must have the ability to work under considerable pressure and multi-task effectively. Qualified applicant must be trained in CPR Certification, and successfully pass basic Telecommunication course and Emergency Medical dispatch course.
