Director is responsible for all programmatic aspects of the Acorn Academy, an early childhood learning center licensed for 115 children ages infant-Kindergarten. This includes supervision of staff, financial management, recruiting and scheduling of children, curriculum development and program implementation.
Position requires Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 1 year managerial or supervisory experience in an early childhood program or agency; 3-5 years preferred. Candidate should have strong background in licensing (as outlined in the State of NJ Department of Children and Families Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers); supervision of a large staff (11 full-time staff members and 12 part-time student employees); experience in financial management (budget planning and management); compliance with all regulations and guidelines for licensing inspections, health inspections and immunization records; managing enrollment; overseeing day-to-day operations of the center (purchasing, payroll, etc.); maintaining mandated records for staff and students; and developing professional and community relationships.
Candidate is subject to criminal history background check including fingerprinting for criminal history and child abuse record checks. In accordance with state-mandated requirements, must receive Mantoux test every 3 years. Must also provide 2 references from a previous employer or persons with knowledge of individual’s work experience.
