2013 Medical/Dental Rates and Open Enrollment

As previously announced, the medical rates for 2013 are not changing. However, there is an increase to the dental rates of 5 to 9 percent depending on which plan you are enrolled in. Please see the medical and dental rates for 2013 by clicking on the link below.

This is also a reminder that Open Enrollment begins this Monday, October 29th and ends on Friday, November 9th. This is the one time per year that you can change your health and dental plans, among other things. For details about Open Enrollment please access the link below.

If you are unable to open the link below you may go to the HR Intranet, click on HR News for Open Enrollment Information and for the rate sheet, click on Open Enrollment under Benefits which is to the right.

Benefits Audit

One of the outcomes of the Organizational Review was to ensure the University was providing benefits only to those who are eligible as dependents of enrolled faculty and staff. In addition to health and dental insurance, this pertains to other benefits such as tuition assistance, tuition exchange, and tuition remission.

During the Open Enrollment period, we encourage you to review the dependents on your health/dental and any tuition programs and ensure they are meeting the IRS definition of a qualified dependent. If you find a non-dependent is enrolled in error, you are asked to advise the Human Resources Department. Please note that beginning in 2013, a benefits audit will be conducted for all enrolled in the University’s health, dental and tuition programs. Medical and dental coverage for children up to age 26 will continue to be in place in accordance with federal law.

Tuition Benefits

Please note that Human Resources will require documentation to prove eligibility for all tuition benefits. If you have already submitted these documents for your dependents, there is no need to re-submit them.

Tuition Exchange Deadline REMINDER: If your child is interested in participating in the TE program during the 2013-14 academic year and/or if your child is currently receiving a TE scholarship, please goes to the HR Intranet site, click on HR Forms, scroll down to Tuition Programs, and click on Tuition Exchange. Print and complete the application form and return to HR no later than October 31, 2012.
