Summer Fridays

It is hard to believe, but it is true — Summer Fridays end today.  Our students will begin to return to campus over the next couple of weeks — all offices are expected to return to normal hours.  Don’t forget to change your posted hours and voice mail message!

Labor Day

As announced earlier this week, President Weisbuch and the Cabinet have approved Labor Day as a paid University holiday this year!  Limited services and/or hours will be available in the Library and the Forum; staff working in areas that must remain open on Labor Day will be compensated in accordance with current University policy.  Please refer questions regarding holiday pay to Deborah at extension 3515.

Voluntary Retirement Program Update

Earlier this year we announced a one-time voluntary retirement program for faculty and staff who had worked at Drew for 20 or more years and were at least 55 years old.  Twenty-three (23) members of our community have expressed interest in participating in the program.  Our first step is to discuss the requested retirement date with each supervisor and once there is agreement on the effective date, we will begin to work with each person on the specifics of their retirement. We will also be looking at which of these positions can be refilled and at what levels to achieve the projected budget savings. Stay tuned — more details will be shared in the coming weeks!

Important Reminders

Sexual Harassment and Employment Discrimination Training is mandatory for all full and part-time faculty, including adjuncts, and staff.  Designed to help us understand, respond to and prevent employment discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace, the online training takes less than one hour of your time and you can take it at anytime and anywhere you have access to a computer. If you have not already done so, please fulfill your responsibility by going to: http://training.newmedialearning.com/phs/drewu to take the sexual harassment training and http://training.newmedialearning.com/ped/drewu for employment discrimination training.  If you are not certain whether you have taken the training, call Fredi Cox at 3795.
