ESOL Courses for Fall 2012
ESOL course listings will be available August, 2012. This program is offered by the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies (973-408-3118) & the Office of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
These non-credit courses are appropriate for au pairs and other community members who wish to strengthen their spoken and written English skills. Participants in the “Intermediate Conversational English” class should not be enrolled in any other program offered through Drew University’s Community Education Audit (CEA) program. ESOL classes begin in late August, 2012.
Cost
Tuition for these classes is as follows:
- Conversational English-Intermediate : $395
- Integrated Reading and Writing in English: $395
Tuition fees include the cost of any required textbooks as well as a Drew University parking pass.
Course Descriptions
12FCEAESL1/Conversational English-Intermediate
This course is designed for students at a high beginner or intermediate level of English conversation. Its focus is to further develop and reinforce speaking skills in everyday situations through the study of, and application of, American idioms, informal language, and topics in American culture.

12FCEAESL3/Integrated Reading and Writing in English
This course is designed for non-native speakers of English who have had some experience with writing and English and are interested in improving their writing skills. Students will use reading and writing exercises to become familiar with the writing process and will then move on to the major portion of the course: writing for communication in personal and business settings.

Contact Hours
These are non-credit courses; participants will receive contact hours for completing these courses. Each class meets for a total of 36 contact hours, which is standard for a Drew University 4 credit course.
