The Robert Bly Translation Prize
The Robert Bly Translation Prize will be awarded to a manuscript of poetry translated from any language into English by an advanced translation student or alumnus of the MFA Program in Poetry and Poetry in Translation at Drew University. The contest will be judged by a poet-translator not affiliated with the Program.
The Translation prize includes a $500 award. The winner will be announced in Nov.-Dec., 2012. No entry fee.
- Manuscripts must be between 30 and 40 pages of translated work. They must be typed and double-spaced, and must contain a cover page with the translator’s name and contact information, a title page, and a table of contents.
- The manuscript must be accompanied by a 1-2 page preface introducing the poet’s work and by a copy of the translated poems in their original language.
- Translations must be from the writing of one author, although not necessarily from a single work. Exceptions may be made for manuscripts that include two authors if the translator makes a convincing argument for the rational in the preface.
- Manuscripts that have been published in book format or have been accepted for book publication by the submission deadline are not eligible.
Submission deadline: June 28, 2012
