Joshua Kavaloski (Ph.D. University of Virginia) is Associate Professor and Director of the German Studies Program. His areas of specialization are modernism, literary theory, and twentieth-century German literature and film. He has published scholarly articles on authors ranging from Thomas Mann and Franz Kafka to Jurek Becker and Philip Roth. He recently published the book High Modernism: Aestheticism and Performativity in Literature of the 1920s.
