By William Shakespeare
Directed by Daniel LaPenta, Professor, Theatre Arts
Shakespeare’s titanic tragedy of family and politics, performed in an intimate, in-the-round staging. An aging, intransigent ruler who values flattery above honesty unwisely decides to give up his throne and partition his kingdom among his three daughters. Although trying to prevent petty squabbles after the fact, Lear’s actions instead unleash a devastating chain reaction of betrayals, brutality, war and death. Drew faculty member (and Equity actor) Chris Ceraso leads a talented student cast.
