Speaker: Dr. Radha S. Hegde, Professor of Media, Culture and Communication, New York University
Dr. Radha S. Hegde will discuss her research on the gendering and racializing of borders, especially in the current US context with some global examples as well.
Dr. Hegde is author of Mediating Migration (Polity Press, 2016), editor of Circuits of Visibility: Gender and Transnational Media Cultures (NYU Press, 2011) and co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of the Indian Diaspora (2018). Her work has appeared in journals such as Communication Theory, Critical Studies in Media Communication, Feminist Media Studies, Violence against Women, Global Media and Communication, and she is currently co-editor of the journal Feminist Media Studies.
She is one of the founding members of Manavi, the first feminist South Asian group established in the United States working at the intersection of gender violence and migration.
