D.D.C. 8 - Defensive Driving CourseNSC

The department has three officers certified by the New Jersey Safety Council to instruct an eight hour course in Defensive driving. The course includes reviewing some rules of the road that they have learned before and some that are not known. The instructors also give tips for foul weather driving and other driving hazards. People that complete this course will receive at least a 5 % discount and can get 2 points off of your record.  For more information contact  Lt.Politz rpolitz@drew.edu  


R.A.D. - Rape Aggression Defense Course                

undefinedThe Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.

Community First Aid & C.P.R.undefined

The Department has One Officer certified by the Red Cross to instruct basic first aid and C.P.R. (cardio-pulmanary-resuscitation). Upon successful completion of this class , participants will be able to perform Adult,Child and infant C.P.R. and assist someone in a medical emergency until help arrives. Contact Det.Sgt. Basic 9-1-1 Dispatch & EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch)

The Department has one officer certified as an instructor by NECI, the National Emergency Communications Institute, to teach Basic 9-1-1 telecommunications and EMD courses.  Once a year, this service is provided for a fee to outside agencies who wish to certify their officers and/or dispatchers.  Contact Sgt. Politz rpolitz@drew.edu for more information. 


C.E.R.T. - Community Emergency Response Team

undefinedThe Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.  Instuctors are Cpl. Traynor and Cpl.
