Dear
Returning Drew Resident,
We are
excited for your return here in the Office of Residence Life. Each and every one of you has a least a
semester of “college life” under your belt.
With that said, I am sure you have set expectations of how you envision
your residential experience to be. The
staff is hopeful that we can come together and
create a collaborative vision for our community that will have great benefits
and memories for all of us.
When
you return many things will be similar, but some things and people have
changed. You will find new staff members
and new community members. Many
residents graduated, transferred, decided to commute, moved elsewhere on campus
or are returning back to Drew after time off or a semester away. This means your floor and building community
will be different from previous years. This is exciting as you will all have the
opportunity to come together and recreate your community. We ask you to join forces with your
floor/building members and the Res-Life staffs to decide on the type of
community you want to be a part of and to take an active role in creating that
envisioned community. We are
highly motivated and inspired to help you create a positive residential
experience.
The
best part of having a summer break is that you can come back after reflecting
on your fall semester and decide what changes should be made. Call it New Year’s Resolutions, goals, or
just changes that need to be made; this is your chance to be a part of the new
and improved residential community! You
are a vital component of this community.
The
RAs, HAs and Res-Life professional staff are willing to help you re-create the
foundation, but it is up to you to guide your community. You can utilize the Res-Life staff and
Public Safety to help you address floor issues and guide you in confronting
your peers. Drew has many resources to
help you address the needs of you community, both the serious concerns, and the
fun components. It is up to you to utilize
the staff that is here for you.
We hope
you all had a wonderful break and we look forwarding to hearing all of your
stories.
Sincerely,
The Office of Residence Life
