Carolyn Chapp grew up in Des Plaines,
IL and earned her undergraduate degree in
religious studies at Skidmore
College. She also double
minored in biology and law. While at Skidmore, she pursued meditation through a
service learning project for a course called the Introduction to Law, Justice,
and Citizenship. In the fall of 2006, Carolyn became a certified mediator in
the state of New York
under the mentorship of Mediation Matters Deputy Director Sarah Rudgers-Tysz
and Learning Laboratories, Duke Fisher (the New York State Dispute Resolution
Association’s 2007 Lawrence P. Cooke Peace Innovator Award Recipient). In 2007 she interned with Mediation Matters
where she gained experience mediating small claims, family court, and PINS cases.
She also received a second certification as a restorative justice conference
facilitator through the Vermont Restorative Justice Programs in January of 2008.
Carolyn wishes to thank Professor’s Beau Breslin and David
Karp for their tremendous dedication to higher education and student
development. Carolyn also thanks Suzanne Ciani for supporting and encouraging throughout
her undergraduate career. Carolyn was very excited to join the Residence Life team,
where she finds an extremely supportive staff environment and creativity to
foster community in the residence halls!
