Commencement 2007

 Permanent link

Though it was chilly and overcast, the Spring 2007 Commencement maintained the outside tradition. While only a seminary, commencement was held in the chapel. 1932 marked the first outdoor commencement, for the main reason that when Brothers College and the College of Religious Education joined the Theological Seminary for commencement, there was not enough room in the chapel. The University Archives maintains a collection of commencement booklets, speeches, audio, photographs, and other documentation. The Carl Michalson Papers were processed by Anna Henderson this spring. Carl Donald Michalson started as an instructor in the Drew Theological School in 1943 and was the Andrew V. Stout Professor of Systematic Theology from 1959 until his tragic death in an airplane crash on November 8, 1965. This collection documents his lectures and publications research, including course outlines and bibliographies, correspondence, professional papers, photographs, sermons, published articles, recorded class lectures, and his student notebooks and papers from Drew Theological Seminary and Yale University. The finding aid is online at: http://depts.drew.edu/lib/findingaids/Michalson/index.php. These materials are open for research.
