Journal Recommendation Form

 

Because journal subscriptions become a sizable, continuing cost to the Library and the University, we ask your help in supplying answers to these questions about the titles you recommend. Please fill in as much of the form as is possible. Journals cannot be considered for acquisition until this form, or its paper version, is submitted to Linda Connors in the Library.

CRITERIA FOR ACQUISITION:

  1. Your assessment of relevance of this title to curricular offerings. What dimension is added by this title? Adequacy of present holdings in subject area?
  2. Does this title offer the possibility of replacing other specific journals? Which one or ones?
  3. Frequency of citation in the professional literature? Evidence?
  4. Where indexed? Adequacy of indexing?
  5. Depth of interest in subject field at Drew:
    • Graduate
    • Undergraduate
    • Other
  6. Interdisciplinary value of the journal? Recommended by which other departments?
  7. Are back issues necessary? From what date?
  8. Is the journal available electronically? With or without subscription to paper copy?
  9. If the Library could provide copies of articles from this journal within 24-48 hours of request, would this be an adequate substitute for a subscription to the journal?

 If you have a sample copy of the journal in electronic format, please send it separately as an e-mail attachment to Linda Connors, lconnors@drew.edu. If the copy is in paper format, please send it to Linda Connors through campus mail.
