Faculty Development

The Faculty Lab is broadening its faculty development opportunities by offering an extensive list of workshops, discussions, and demonstrations on a wide variety of topics. Below you'll find a descriptions of the different formats we are offering, and a schedule for the next several months. These topics are based on the survey that was sent out to faculty over last summer. We have done our best to offer these events in a variety of different locations at a variety of different times to suit as many different schedules as possible. If you see an event that you are interested in, and you are unable to make the scheduled time, plase feel free to contact the Faculty Lab for a one-on-one session. All sessions are scheduled to be one hour.

Presentation Styles

Workshop - A hands-on class, using computers or other technology, where participants will learn a skill or skill set. These typically teach participants to accomplishing something specific using different types of software or hardware. Most of these are scheduled to be held in BC 1 or the Faculty Lab, but they may be in another room if necessary.

Brown bag lunch - An informal discussion or information session on the given topic. Participants are invited to bring and eat their lunch, learn about the subject, and give their feedback on their interests and possible uses of the technology shown. [NOTE: For those sessions held in Commons 209, you must either be a member of the University Club, be accompanied by someone who is a member, or bring your own lunch.]

Demonstration - A presentation about a specific topic. This is usually something ITS is considering investigating further and would like to get community feedback on potential usefulness.
