Backup your laptop

Your IBM/Lenovo laptop comes with a set of utilities, grouped under the name ThinkVantage.

Use the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery utility to create an backup of all the files and settings on your computer.  This back up can be save directly to a CD.  In the event your computer is reimaged, you'll be able to restore your files and settings easily throught the Rescue and Recovery utility.

  • Click the start menu and click on Access IBM button. The IBM main menu will appear.
  • Click on the text Protect & recover.
  • Click on the bullet Backing up & restoring data.

  • The Access Help menu will appear. Click on the button on the bottom to start your back up.

  • The Rescue and Recovery menu will appear with the Backup Button at the top of the screen. Scroll over the Backup Button. A drop-down menu will appear. Click on Back up now.

  • On the Back Up Now menu, save to CDR/DVD. Click OK. Insert a CD into the drive.

Note: You may exclude all files and folders other than Documents and Settings and other Documents you wish to be saved. This can be done by scrolling over the Backup Button, choosing Set Preferences, selecting Exclude specified files and folders and clicking next.
