Opening the F-Prot Anti-Virus Scanner: 

1. Press the Start button Vista Start Menu

2. Select All Programs

3. Select F-PROT Antivirus for Windows

The F Prot dialog box will appear:

F-Prot automatically opens to the System Status tab.

System status tells the user:

1. When the software was last updated

2. Which automatic scanners are turned on or turned off

3. Any scheduled tasks that may have been set by the user.

Updating F-Prot Anti-virus:

Before scanning, update F-Prot using the Updates Tab tab.

Once in the Update window that appears, click the Check Updates

 Scanning for Viruses

1. Click the Virus Scanners tab. Virus Scanner

2. To scan your entire computer (All hard drives), Click the Scan My Computer  button. Scan c

The Scan My Computer dialog box will appear:

As the scanner finds infected objects and/or files associated with viruses, it will list them in the bottom area of the window and prompt you to decide what action to take.

Disinfecting or Deleting Suspicious Files

3. For infected files: choose Disinfect. Disinfecting will remove the virus code from the selected file.

4. For suspicious files: choose Delete. Suspicious files are unnecessary files that are F-Prot has determined may be threats.

5. Once the scan is complete and all files have been disinfected or deleted, close F-Prot.
