The goal of the Staff Technology Development Certifications is to provide staff with the skills and understanding to accomplish a set of concrete tasks. By acquiring these skills, it is intended that the staff at Drew will become empowered to accomplish tasks and incorporate technology into their daily routine more effectively. Each Certificate includes multiple training workshops and a final project/evaluation of skills by a panel of qualified technical staff.
Since the purpose of this program is only to verify that staff members have the appropriate technology skills for their job, any staff member who already possesses the skills and technical competencies to pass the evaluation may request to complete the final project/evaluation without attending the training workshops. However, as new versions of software emerge and technology continues to evolve there will be a process for updating the certification to keep pace with these changes. Additionally, as new areas of expertise are identified, this program will be adapted to include new Certificates.
At present, Instructional Technology Services has identified seven major Technology Certificates based upon interviews with various staff members within the Drew community.
These seven are:
Of these seven, only the Technology Enabled Employee is currently offered. All additional Certificate will be announced as they become available. In the description of each Certificate, we have provided suggested staff positions that would benefit most from completing the Certificate. However, it is recommended that any staff who wishes to complete a Certificate in any of these areas be given time within their schedule to accomplish this goal. A well trained staff is able to handle unusual or emergencies situations more effectively.
