Medications from the Health Service Dispensary:
Both prescription and non-prescription medications purchased at the Health Service can be paid for with cash, check, credit card, or the All-Campus card. (You must have funds in your bookstore account to charge on the All-Campus card). Students enrolled in the student insurance plan will not be billed for prescription medication dispensed at the Health Service (except birth control and travel vaccines) .
Medications from an outside pharmacy:
If we do not carry the medication, we will give you a written prescription to take to the pharmacy of your choice. Or, if you prefer, the Health Service will call in or fax the prescription to one of our local pharmacies (Madison Pharmacy 973-377-0075 or Liberty Drug 973 635-6209) who will deliver the prescription to campus. Students will need to call the Pharmacy in advance of delivery to find out the cost and to arrange payment. A CVS pharmacy is nearby but does not deliver medications. If you have prescription coverage through family insurance you should bring (or fax) a copy of the plan to the pharmacy who may then bill the insurance directly. If you pay by credit card, you will need to call in your credit card information to the pharmacy in advance of delivery. If you have not arranged payment before delivery, they will not leave the medication. It is important that students tell the pharmacy where they want the medication delivered. If you use Madison Pharmacy, they will deliver your medication to your room, but they will need to know when you will be there. As an alternative, both Madison Pharmacy and Liberty Drug will deliver your medication to Drew Health Service where you can pick it up during all open hours. We will call you when the medication arrives.
Important:
The student insurance plan does not cover prescriptions that are purchased off campus. However, many students have prescription coverage through their family plan. When you have this type of coverage, the local pharmacy may be able to bill your insurance directly and you should check with the pharmacy first. Most likely you will have a small co-pay which you can put on you credit card or pay by check. Sometimes you have to pay the bill and submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. The procedure varies by company.
