Drew

Welcome to the Writing Center!

The Writing Center is a free service available to all Drew University students. Located off the lobby in Brothers College, we provide a comfortable environment where you can work with a writing specialist in either a 30 or 50 minute session adapted to your writing needs.

Bring your projects, drafts, assignment, notes and an open mind and we’ll do all we can to help you improve your writing.

Services

A visit to the Center is valuable at all stages of the writing process. While we customize each session to suit the specific needs of each person and writing project, we also offer  generalized support in a variety of areas.

Hours of Operation

During Fall and Spring semesters we are open:

Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm
Friday 10am-3pm

We are also able to offer limited evening hours:

Monday-Thursday  6pm-8pm.

The Writing Center is closed weekends, University breaks, and holidays.

Scheduling an Appointment

In general, schedule your appointment at least one week in advance.  Because of the high demand for sessions during the weeks of midterms and finals, contact the Center two-three weeks in advance.

There are three ways to book an appointment:

  • Call us at x3617 or (973) 408-3617
  • Email as at writecen@drew.edu
  • Stop by the Center during our open hours

As the semester progresses, our ability to accommodate walk-ins diminishes.  Scheduling sessions ahead of time is highly recommended.  Please note: if you are booking appointments via email, we will get back to you as soon as possible during our regular center hours, M-F.

Please limit appointments to 2 non-consecutive sessions per week.

Canceling Appointments

Reserving consultants’ time and then failing to show up for appointments prevents other students from utilizing our services. If you have to cancel your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible by calling x3617, emailing writecen@drew.edu, or stopping by the Writing Center.

If you miss three scheduled appointments without canceling in advance, you will have to use the Writing Center on a walk-in/wait basis.
