Chargeback Policy
The overall purpose of the policy is to equitably allocate departmental resources to the Drew community. The authorized Facilities Operations budget provides the Drew Community with a great deal of service. However, the approved budget and staffing levels can only provide a certain level of service, after which additional costs will be incurred. It only becomes necessary to charge the user or requestor when the level of service required exceeds that for which staffing and budgets allow. The charge is not meant to penalize, but rather to fund planned and budgeted work which is not being accomplished in deference to a special request.
The cost for chargeback services has been established as $22.50/man-hour for straight time for all services (custodial work, moves, setups, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc). Overtime rates have been established at 1.5 times the straight time rate with a minimum two-hour charge per person. These costs reflect the actual, average cost for the work being performed - the rates do not include a profit or markup.
